Virginia from Seattle says “Do anything that inspires you!”
We recently had the honor of meeting a very sprightly lady named Virginia as we were enjoying “coffee and cake” at an open air coffee shop in downtown Seattle. Virginia approached us and asked whether we would mind if she shared our table. We gladly welcomed her as she radiated positivity and the waiter brought her coffee and chocolate cupcake to the table. She shared with us that she had celebrated 91 birthdays and we admired her independence and alertness. She had been born in Seattle during the Great Depression and grew up to become a professional musician, her instrument being the violin. She has led a very full life and we felt inspired by her story. We asked her what she would say to a young person who was at an early stage of their journey through life and she replied with the words “do anything that inspires you. I believe using what you have been given to be a gift. What are you going to do with it?”
She asked us what we were doing. We shared with her our being on a book tour in the USA and Canada for six months. She asked us many questions about the themes of Journey of a Shaman. She said she would buy the book and would like to see us again, to which we replied that we would mail her a copy of the book as a gift. We shall most certainly see her again and are grateful that we were put in each other’s paths.
