The picture shows Jyotima Prasad, a courageous and spiritual woman, who was in the ‘line-up’ for a signed copy of ‘Journey of a Shaman’ at the recent Hay House ‘I Can Do It Conference’ in New York. As I signed her copy of the book she asked for healing and a blessing. After the book signing session, we had a chat and I was honored to provide the healing and the blessing that she requested. She shared her amazing story and her mission and asked if I would share her story on this blog. I readily agreed. It is a story of inspiration and hope to us all. Journey of Jyotima Prasad
Myself Jyotima Prasad from India, currently living in New Jersey, USA . I did my education in India, where I completed my post graduation in Mathematics and also did my Master in Finance. I was a finance professional for almost a decade.
In 1995, when I was only 21 years of age I was diagnosed with Aorto Artiritis (Pulseless Disease/ Takayashu) with left Subclavian Artery Block .
Takayasu’s arteritis (tah-kah-YAH-sooz ahr-tuh-RIE-tis) is a rare type of vasculitis, a group of disorders that cause blood vessel inflammation. In Takayasu’s arteritis, the inflammation primarily damages the aorta — the large artery that carries blood from your heart to the rest of your body — and the aorta’s main branches.
I started having pain in my left arm, numbness, fatigue, lack of energy, pain in left leg while walking , breathlessness and no blood pressure in left arms. All these symptoms were indicated that I was suffering from this rare disease.
In 1996, I underwent left SCL- Brachial Artery Bypass ( with PTEE), in All India Institute of Medical Sciences , New Delhi.
Even the surgery did not help me much I hardly had any energy to do my day to day tasks. Life seemed to be difficult and frustrating lot many times as I had to take help of others. Specially in winters it was very tough for me as body use to get numb. My parents were always my strength .
As a person , I always had big dreams in life to do well and have a great life . But doctors use to tell me I can not strain myself, I can only do 30-40% of what normal people are capable of. These things made me like a victim in life which I was not able to accept. It was quite frustrating. Seeing my condition and suffering one of my friend suggested me to try Homeopathy .
Homeopathy, or homeopathic medicine, is a medical philosophy and practice based on the idea that the body has the ability to heal itself. Homeopathy was founded in the late 1700s in Germany and has been widely practiced throughout India.
I was referred to Dr Kalyan Banerjee, an accomplished Physician with four decades of practice. He gave me hope that I can live normal life and stay healthy. I started using his medicines with full faith and belief. I also completed my MBA in Finance during this period. I slowly got some energy to live a day to day life. I started working also and continued medicine for almost 10 years regularly.
I was lucky enough to get married to person who knew my entire health condition. He accepted me lovingly and gracefully. He has been a great support in my life to move forward with all the challenges that I had. We were aware that due to my medical health condition it will be difficult for me have a child. But magic and miracles happen all the time, we have to just believe in it. I am blessed with two kids , my son is 11 and daughter is 7 years old. I had an amazing corporate career in Finance for almost a decade.
Life was going normal till 2010, when we were in Australia. All of a sudden my lower portion of the entire body stopped moving and I was in deep pain. We tried lot of pain killers and medicine but nothing worked. We came back to India and consulted doctors. Again I went CT Coronary Angio and many other tests.
The Angio report showed diffuse thickening of walls of Arch & decending thoracic aorta ,Ostia of Brachio Cephalic, lCCA and RCAA. Complete obstruction of 2nd part of LSA with distal flow of left upper limb.
I do not understand the medical terminology but I was almost like a dead person. I was on steroids, sleeping pills and anti depressant. I was on bed for almost one year with no hope of healthy life. With medicines side effect I gained so much weight and the feeling was so depressing.
This was the first time in my life that I lost hope , otherwise I have always been a fighter and had great zeal to live life.
I am a firm believer of God and in my heart I had a thought that GOD will not let me die like this, leaving my kids, husband and parents behind.
